Family Home Storage

"Our Heavenly Father created this beautiful earth, with all its abundance, for our benefit and use. His purpose is to provide for our needs as we walk in faith and obedience. He has lovingly commanded us to “prepare every needful thing” (see D&C 109:8) so that, should adversity come, we can care for ourselves and our neighbors and support bishops as they care for others.

"We encourage members world-wide to prepare for adversity in life by having a basic supply of food and water and some money in savings.

"We ask that you be wise as you store food and water and build your savings. Do not go to extremes; it is not prudent, for example, to go into debt to establish your food storage all at once. With careful planning, you can, over time, establish a home storage supply and a financial reserve."
—The First Presidency,

A year supply honestly has been something I have never been able to wrap my head around. I'm not sure why?? It finally clicked in my head the other day that... I have not followed the Prophets council and I'm not ready. No one was going to do this for me. So I had that..."Wake up Rayel, take care of your family" moment. My goal was to have my 3 month supply by the end of September. My 6 months by the end of October & year supply by the end of November. I'm happy to say that my 3 month is done!! I really have been surprised about how easy it has been. I think I have just made it be so complicated all these years.
Any how here is a pic of my yummy sugary freezer jam me & the kids made to go in our year supply. Strawberry/raspberry & the other is Mango (my most favorite food on the planet). The boys had a blast mashing up the fruit. And Lacey gave me a bit of a hard time with how "UNHEALTHY" it was...but all in all it was a great day & I feel so much better knowing that I have done this for my family & most importantly that I am following the council of our Prophet. I know...I'm the worlds BIGGEST Procrastinator.

Hey, don't feel too bad. I haven't even tried to put one together! So, I'm proud of you for doing it. Miss you Ray! There's a new girl at work who reminds me of you. Kinda funny. It took me forever to think of who she reminded me of and now all I see is you! Looks like your fam is doing good!

Good job Rayel. I think we are all in your shoes. Sometimes it takes a little longer for some of us to get things completed. But I can attest to the importance of having it ready. I have had to get into my supply a couple of times and I dont know what I would have done if I did not have it there.

Rayel,
I miss seeing you! Hopefully we'll see each other with the boys being on the same soccer team.
Thanks for your example in getting prepared. I think that counsel from our leaders is not just so we have in our time of need, but also so that we can be blessed with PEACE when others may be panicking. See you soon!
